Debut CD by Our Assistant Organist… SOLD OUT!

“Tuned Up!” by Christian Cartwright

Maybe a new name to many, but no doubt not a new face to our friends who regularly visit “Pipes in the Peaks”.  Concert days sees Christian working on the AV desk, and often serving at the Bar during our Saturday Night parties – to name but a few of the jobs from “behind the scenes”.

This is Christians first recording, where he has chosen a selection of music, which show off the wide range of both the instruments on the organ and how the Compton can be adapted to many playing styles.

.

Saturday 7th March 2004 saw Dovedale Garage turn into a high-tech recording studio.

Recording the “Trolley Song”

Hopefully, there’s something to suit everyone – from some subtle “smoochy” sounds to toe tapping favorites – and Cathedral like harmony to Jazz Band “razzamataz”.  All the songs played are his own arrangements, which have been influenced by not only organists, but from his wider musical interests on both sides of the Atlantic. While featuring popular songs which have evolved during the earlier years of the Comptons life, some of the music has been arranged to reflect playing styles which Christian feels are important – as it brings the mightiest of instruments closer to the interests of our wider audience.  “Pipes in the Peaks” have always aimed to make the Compton visually entertaining to a wide range of ages and music tastes, so Christian has kept the theme running by presenting music which features the various instruments on the organ in songs old and new, using his own new musical ideas .
